In November and December 2021, Senior Fellow Hany Tea was part of a performance project with Lastesis, a queer feminist performance collective from Chile (known for their public performance “El violador eres tu”).
Specifically, Hany was part of two performances of “Resistencia” by LASTESIS.
Even though these performances had to be cancelled due to a COVID case, they present an interesting arch between art and public expression. The feminist performance collective LASTESIS ignites a literal movement that has reached far beyond the borders of Chile.
“Thousands of women and queers in cities around the globe have been inspired to take streets themselves to perform the choreography, a statement of resistance against sexualized violence,” the official program explains.
