Fridays for Future: Racism Against Black Activists: "As if I don't exist"

Details

Article

Senior Fellow Simone Schlindwein writes about Ugandan climate activist Vanessa Nakate, whose fight against climate change is personal because it affects her home and country. After starting the Fridays for Future movement in Uganda, she attended a conference in Davos, Switzerland with, among others, Greta Thunberg and Luisa Neubauer. Later on, she discovered that she, as the only non-white, non-European in the group photo, was cut out of a group photo on social media and news articles.

You can read more about Nakate’s story and reaction in the online magazine “Deine Korrespondentin” here.
