Humanity in Action 2009 France Senior Fellow Kennedy Odede is featured as one of nine world-changers invited to attend the 2019 Davos World Economic Forum Annual Meeting. Odede will join “champions of democracy to educators of the underprivileged, coming to share ideas and find new ways to make the world a better place.” Kennedy comes from Kibera in Kenya and is invited for his organization Shining Hope for Communities which works to “transform urban poverty to urban promise.” The organization works to create sustainable livelihood programs, provide water sanitation and hygiene, teach girls leadership and education, and establish essential services and health care.
“The programmes run by his organization Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) have served more than 220,000 people. The organization is scaling across Kenya’s slums with a model that links free schools for girls to holistic community services for all.”
