Landecker Democracy Fellow Nikos Vrantsis wrote a book titled “SIMPLIFICATIONS. Space, subjectivity, suppression in conditions of Planetary Urbanism.” The book maps the trends and dynamics of simplification of complex ecosystems. The simplification mechanism is in itself simple: the reproduction of a unique form (practice, behavior, and subjectivity) ad infinitum that impoverishes previously diverse ecosystems. The book weaves different instances together to describe trends of this ominous phenomenon.
