Landecker Fellow Maia Ferdman is the executive producer of a bi-weekly podcast at the UCLA Luskin Center for History and Policy. The podcast entitled “Then & Now” connects past and present using historical analysis to guide listeners through contemporary issues and policy decisions.

Every other week, the team interviews historians, policymakers and leaders about what happened in the past and what that means for present times. Maia produces and edits the podcast, and occasionally even conducts the interviews.

Maia is one of thirty 2021-2022 Landecker Democracy Fellows. This fellowship, a collaboration between the Alfred Landecker Foundation and Humanity in Action, was created to strengthen a new generation of leaders whose approaches to political and social challenges can become catalysts for democratic placemaking and community building.
