More importantly, they learned how to counter hybrid threats and how to build resilience. Our speaker Ján Cingel also focused onto the Country’s Hybrid Threats Vulnerability viewed through SWOT Analysis.

Training 3 – October 22-23, 2021

Building our participants’ research skills during the third online skills building workshop with Ivan Iliev, Strategic Analysis SK. NATO PPD supported project ‘Defending Euro-Atlantic Values: Capacity Building and Resilience Enhancement through Strengthening Research and Debating Capacities of Young Professionals in BiH’ will result in several policy papers which will be the outcome of team work and thorough research and analysis conducted by our participants. The topic of conversation at this session was quantitative research. Participants learned what is, why and when to use this research method based on examples of quantitative research that Ivan provided which better explained the methods which can be used. We continue tomorrow with Ivan on this topic.

We met again the following day with our participants and Ivan Iliev, to continue on the topic of qualitative research methods. Participants had the task to explain the topic they would like to research within their policy papers and which of the qualitative analysis methods would be the most suitable for their research and why. We are looking forward to to see the final products of the NATO PPD supported project ‘Defending Euro-Atlantic Values: Capacity Building and Resilience Enhancement through Strengthening Research and Debating Capacities of Young Professionals in BiH’ which will be presented at an event in Sarajevo in December 2021.

For our Fourth Online Skills Training within the Defending Euro-Atlantic Values: Capacity Building and Resilience Enhancement through Strengthening Research and Debating Capacities of Young Professionals in BiH’ NATO supported project, we welcomed Leila Bičakčić from Centar za istraživačko novinarstvo (CIN). Our participants had many questions for our speaker since they had the opportunity to hear about many cases of fraud committed by local politicians that was uncovered by CIN, which sparked their interest to delve deeper into this topic. We met again the following day and continued the conversation on the topic of Investigative Researching.

Training 5 – November 5-6, 2021

We’ve met our participants for the fifth and final online skills training within the NATO supported project ‘Defending Euro-Atlantic Values: Capacity Building and Resilience Enhancement through Strengthening Research and Debating Capacities of Young Professionals in BiH’. The session is on the topic of strategic country analysis led by Tomáš Baranec, Strategic Analysis SK. Tomáš explained to the participants that the country analysis is a part of the Area Studies elaborating further on the terms macro region, region and state. He also spoke about existing academic research and strategic intelligence used for country analysis. Afterwards, participants learned about basic methods of the country analysis which we hope will be of great help when they commence researching and writing their policy papers. We meet again tomorrow morning when we will continue on the same topic and the next stage of the project.

Next session on strategic country analysis with Tomáš Baranec, was the final online skills training within the  project before our participants embark into the policy papers writing process. They were given a selection of topics to choose from and a task to form three groups which will work on writing three policy papers with the guidance of provided mentors. The three policy papers will be presented by our participants during the two-day Advocacy event which will be held in December in Sarajevo.
