Through words and actions, the civil rights leader and congressman has imparted to us some of his great reservoir of courage, wisdom and faith. Often called  “one of the most courageous persons the Civil Rights Movement ever produced,” John Lewis has dedicated his life to protecting human rights, securing civil liberties, and building what he calls “The Beloved Community” in the United States.

Humanity in Action is honored to host the Atlanta Fellowship in the name of Congressman John Lewis. Over 140 of our Fellows from many countries have participated in the five John Lewis Fellowship programs up to date, which has taken place annually since 2015 in partnership with the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta. The Fellows and the whole Humanity in Action community send him our deepest hopes for a swift recovery and regained strength in his battle against pancreatic cancer.
