Andrea currently (2014) finalises her PhD dissertation at the Université Paris 3-Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris titled “The Voice of Islam? Muslim organisations and State-Islam relations in Great Britain and France” dealing with the institutional responses to the presence of Muslim populations in these countries. She hopes that her research will help change the wider public’s perception of Muslims and eliminate stereotypes. Changing people’s perception of others is crucial to make our societies more tolerant and eventually discrimination-free. A deepening worry about issues linked to multiculturalism, identity and minority rights have determined the choice of her topic.
Andrea is so involved in a number of community projects by non-governmental organisations dealing mainly with the questions of hate speech and hate-related violence, right-wing extremism and xenophobia.
