Emma van den Aakster is a student at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), where she is finishing her last year of her BA in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics. In 2019, she spent an exchange semester at New York University where she took courses on criminal justice, security and journalism. In high school, Emma volunteered in South Africa with the Global Exploration Foundation. She is still active in the organization today, assisting the board with their cultural exchange programs and training new volunteers. Emma also has a passion for sustainability, which she uses in her work with the UvA’s Green Office. As a member of her university’s European Horizons chapter, she enjoys discussing topics related to European integration. In her free time, Emma loves cooking, traveling, running and watching television series. In the future, she aspires to pursue a career in international relations and security.
