Dr. John Winters

John C. Winters, MD, MPH is a graduate of The George Washington University School of Medicine. He trained in Internal Medicine/International Health at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleve- land, Ohio and completed an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/ Harvard Medical School. Between 2015 and mid 2018, Dr. Winters worked at the NYC Dept of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC DOHMH); Bureau of STD Prevention and Control as HIV Physician-in-Charge. Dr. Winters was instrumental in developing and rolling out several NYC based ETE (End the Epidemic) funded HIV prevention and treatment initiatives aimed at drastically reducing the number of new HIV infections in NYS by 2020. Additionally, Dr. Winters was responsible for overseeing clinical care/operations as well as implementing several CDC-funded STD initiates within the Central Harlem Sexual Health Clinic. Dr. Winters recently started working with Health and Hospital Corporation (HHC) as Associate Executive Director/ Site Medical Director in the Division of Correctional Health Services. In this new role, Dr. Winters will oversee the medical care of several hundred per- sons housed at the Brooklyn House of Detention as well as provide direct clinical care for patients with HIV and Hepatitis C. Dr. Winters is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases at The Mount Sinai Hospital where he has a weekly High Resolution Anoscopy (HRA) clinic. Dr. Winters is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
