Kauther Alhusainy

Kauther Alhusainy is a Iraqi-German decolonial legal scholar focusing on racial hierarchies in German citizenship law as part of her DPhil project at the University of Oxford.

Before beginning her DPhil research at the University of Oxford, Kauther worked as a lawyer addressing issues related to gender, migration and armed conflict. Her professional experience includes roles at the International Organization for Migration, UNICEF, and UN Women.

In 2024, Kauther was a Research Fellow at Statefree e.V., where she contributed to developing a digital statelessness determination procedure. She also collaborated on the Decolonising EU Law project under the guidance of Professor Iyiola Solanke.

She holds an LLB and an LLM in Law & Gender from SOAS University, as well as an MPhil in Socio-Legal Studies from the University of Oxford.
