Laura Klitnæs

Article

Laura Klitnæs completed her Master’s degree in International Security and Law at SDU in the summer of 2025. Her thesis explored the ongoing transitional justice process in Syria, looking at the relationship between the interim government and civil society. During her studies, she engaged with topics related to human rights, transitional justice, and atrocity prevention – interests shaped by hands-on experience working with refugees in various contexts. She has volunteered with organizations such as Muhabet, supporting refugees with mental health challenges, worked with Ukrainian refugees through the Volunteer Center Aarhus, and most recently interned at DIGNITY – Danish Institute Against Torture.

These experiences have helped her bridge theory and practice and deepen her understanding of how conflict, repression, and forced displacement shape individual lives. She hopes to continue working in the human rights field, contributing to positive change by supporting solutions that help those affected by injustice.
