Born and raised in Athens, Greece, with studies in Political Science and International Human Rights Law, Maria works with UNHCR Greece Operation since 2015. As of 2017, Maria works on the Project Management and design of the ESTIA Programme of Accommodation and Cash Assistance, the biggest funded project implemented by UNHCR at the time of each beginning and till today. As an active member of several local civil society organizations, she continuously participates in local human rights projects that aim to empower the Greek LGBTQI Community, women’s rights, and environmental protection. Maria is a Humanity in Action Fellow (Berlin Fellowship 2017). She speaks fluent Greek, English, and French.
