Suze van Zijl was born and raised in the Netherlands and went to art school in Rotterdam. As an idealist, she wants to create a better world for future generations. However, as a realist she is contributing by starting small in her own domestic space in the way she raises her daughter. In her parenting she tries to break cycles and taboos, teaching against shame and promoting freedom of thought and expression. Suze works at the HipHopHuis in Rotterdam, a home to young, creative people with a positive and critical worldview who are expressing themselves through the culture of hip-hop. Suze believes all young people are influential and promising. In this workspace, she lives her ideal by challenging people to discover their own strength in order to grow through organizing weekly gatherings and talks about various topics important to the community.
