Our community takes action to defend democratic values around the world. Explore our Fellows' Action Projects here.
In the 11 months following the on-site Fellowship program, our Fellows work on their Action Project: an independent venture focused on promoting democratic values in their own communities. Action Projects are as diverse as Humanity in Action Fellows. Fellows apply their new knowledge and perspectives to the communities they impact—in whatever format they find meaningful. The Humanity in Action community is a great resource for getting support—be it with contacts, experience or good advice. COVID-19: Misinformation Media Campaign for the Public and Toolkit for Providers
Landecker Democracy Fellow Asha Shajahan, MD, MHSA is a primary care physician, the Graduate Medical Education Director of Social Equity and Health Disparities at Beaumont Health and the Medical Director of Community Health at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe in the USA. Asha proposes to equip doctors with a fact-checking tool that can help guide evidence-based outcomes and advice.

Building International Solidarity
Kalena Thomhave wrote a series of articles detailing the indignities of Filipino call center workers who are organizing for a labor union. Her work highlights the role of the US labor movement in this process and the importance of international solidarity.

Interfaith Coalition Dinner Series
Senior Fellows Zoe Robbin and Mariam Hassoun created the "The Interfaith Coalition Dinner Series," which brought together student leaders from Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, and Secular on-campus spiritual and religious groups to plan a dinner series.

Empowering Women and Girls in NYC
Landecker Democracy Fellow Reshma Persaud is a Manager of Principal Giving at the International Rescue Committee. In support of activism through art, Reshma and SQWM will host an exhibition highlighting immigrant communities, families, or/and anonymous GBV survivors for them to "Tell their Stories Through Art" either virtually or in-person.
