Senior Fellow Moritz Decker works at Kreuzberg Initiative, a German organization in the fields of educational justice and youth engagement.
“Hey, Alter! Berlin” (Hey, Dude! Berlin), one of their current projects, has recently gained attention of Der Tagesspiegel, a German news outlet.
According to Kreuzberg Initiative, while many companies phase out functional computers, schools are far behind. The Hey, dude! project, launched in January 2021, makes old devices “fit” again so that young people who cannot afford technology can continue using them.
In this Der Tagesspiegel article (in German), Moritz explains that the organization is currently looking for both laptops and volunteers. To learn more about the project and how to support it, visit Kreuzberg Initiative’s website.
