In early February 2022, experts joined an online discussion titled “Autocracy’s Assault on Press Freedom” organized as part of Starr Forum at the MIT Center for International Studies. Senior Fellow Paulina Milewska joined this discussion together with Veronika Munk and Valerie Hopkins.
The event, moderated by Ada Petriczko, explored the threat to free media in Poland, Hungary and Russia, and what it means for the West.
In her speech, Paulina talked about the unique situation in Poland where, while 80% of the media outlets are independent, the “media outlets’ independence started to be undermined.”
