Dear Humanity in Action Denmark Board of Representatives, Senior Fellows, Members and Friends

Would you like to shape the future of Humanity in Action Denmark? Do you have ideas the board should consider? Or questions or concerns about what it means to be a board member? Would you like to run but don’t know how? Would you like to suggest someone else to run? Email us today.

We hope this letter finds you well, and that you have all enjoyed the summer depsite Covid19-restrictions.

We wish to inform you that after 12 years as Chair and Vice-Chair for Humanity in Action Denmark, we have decided that it is time for a change in our organization.

We will thus resign as Chair and Vice-Chair at the forthcoming General Assembly of Humanity in Action Denmark, October 28 2021. This has not been an easy decision. Serving Humanity in Action Denmark in these positions for so many years has been a tremendous privilege. The Danish organization has developed in form and focus, and we have been extremely inspired and found much pleasure in taking part in organizing the Summer Academies, big conferences and smaller gatherings, as well as taking part in the international cooperation between Humanity in Action countries.

Humanity in Action Denmark is in good shape. We are in the middle of a three years cycle of Summer Academies on the union of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands and Human Rights. Our office is in steady waters thanks to our director, Mikaela von Freiesleben, and we have grants for the rent of the office. Humanity in Action Denmark has introduced a travel grant for young activists working on human rights and minority questions, teacher seminars and public debates on current issues, and hope to arrange new study trips in the future.

We are proud to have been a part of Humanity in Action for so long – and we will always be part of Humanity in Action, which cannot be removed from our hearts and identity. However, with Humanity in Action Denmark in a sound state, time is now for a new chairmanship to develop HIA DK in new exciting directions.

Would you like to contribute to our new beginnings? Make the difference! Reach out today!

To recruit a new chair and vice-chair, we have established in the Danish board a working group, which has been mandated to progress with identification of the right profiles to be considered. The group will confer with the entire Danish board and meet for this purpose in a few weeks.

If you have any ideas or suggestions of how to shape the new board – or if you would like to be considered yourself as a member of the Danish Board of Directors – please do not hesitate to reach out.

We thus encourage all of you to come forward with your ideas and inputs which will all be highly appreciated. Please contact Danish board member Magnus Harrison: magnusharrison@gmail.com, preferably before Friday, October 1, 2021. Thank You!

The Danish Board of Director aims at presenting its suggestions for the new board at the General Assembly on October 28, 2021. In accordance with the Articles of Association, board members are elected by the General Assembly, and subsequently the board of directors is constituted with a chair, vice chair and treasurer. The right to run for the board and vote at the General Assembly is obtained through membership of Humanity in Action Denmark (read more about membership further down).

The Board of Directors would like to host a reception in continuation of the General Assembly to mark the change in the chairmanship, and we hope that you will attend.

Sincerely yours,

Eva Maria Lassen & Anders Jerichow
