Mark Leon Goldberg is host and founder of the Global Dispatches Podcast and Editor-in-Chief of UN Dispatch. He has been recognized as a pioneer of “humanitarian journalism” that combines the conventions of journalism (like objectivity) with key principles of global humanitarianism (like the moral equivalence of all lives). This often leads him to shine a spotlight on under-covered global stories.
From 2004-2006 Mark was a writing fellow at The American Prospect where he wrote numerous articles on foreign policy. Prior to joining the Prospect, Mark was a research assistant at the New America Foundation. Mark is a Senior Fellow with Humanity in Action and a proud former Dan Dutko Memorial Foundation Public Policy Fellow.
Mark’s work has been featured in the New York Times, The Guardian, The American Prospect, Foreign Policy, The Globe and Mail, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, The New Republic, and The Daily Beast. He has appears regularly as an on-air guest for Al Jazeera English, National Public Radio, the BBC CSPAN.
He has a Master of Arts in Security Studies from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University.
