Stevi Kitsou

Stevi Kitsou is a PhD researcher at Maastricht University in the Faculty of Law, holding an LL.B. from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a Masters in Media and Cultural Studies from the University of Sussex, and an LL.M. in Public International Law (NKUA). Stevi has an extensive working experience in human rights institutions and organizations in Greece and in the UK and she has been actively involved in civil society initiatives.

She has worked, among others, as a legal consultant at the AIRE Centre, as a legal coordinator at Generation 2.0 for Rights Equality and Diversity, as a legal associate at the General Secretariat for Human Rights in Greece, as a legal officer at the Greek Council for Refugees, and as an editor in various online magazines. She was a rapporteur for the “Golden Dawn Watch” initiative (2017-2020), a board member of the Hellenic League for Human Rights (2017-2021)and, since 2020, she is a founding member and research associate at Simeio/Signal for Researching and Confronting the Far-Right. Her professional and academic trajectory has focused on hate speech in the digital era, fundamental rights protection in the EU legal order and the far-right agenda.
