Born and raised in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Jelena Barac is currently doing an Ma in English Studies at Freie University in Berlin. During her high school she took part in many workshops with an aim to promote peace and conflict resolution in her home city of Mostar. Some of those were Youth in Action, Youth Leadership Program, Bridging Boundaries International etc. After high school she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Performing Arts at University College Utrecht in Holland, and Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, the Arts and Social Thought in Bard College Berlin. During her exchange year in Brazil she got interested in identity and nationality formation. Her Bachelor thesis analysed nationality in Brazilian contemporary literature inspired by a research of the role that specific national formation had in shaping Brazilian protests during 2013. In future she wishes to pursue a Ph.D in some of the lusophone nations.
