Article

Landecker Democracy Fellow Catherine Neilan’s podcast Making Common Ground launched in January 2021. Catherine, a journalist who currently serves as Politics Live Editor at the Telegraph, created this podcast with the goal of creating in-depth conversations amongst different groups of people.

Throughout the month of July, Catherine has launched two new episodes of Making Common Ground.

In episode 23, Catherine explores “trust” and where we get our information from. In the lights of the pandemic, these were brought to the fore. With so much conflicting information available and fewer opportunities to sense check it with our friends, are we getting even more entrenched in the culture wars – or has lockdown reinvigorated our neighborly spirit ?

Catherine is joined by the second focus group for the final time and together they talk about the challenges of navigating the media, our friends, and government messages in the new world order. (Listen: Apple | Spotify)

Episode 24 brings Catherine to Alison Goldsworthy, founder and CEO of The Depolarization Project, with whom she speaks about tribalism and polarization in Britain and the USA. (Listen: Apple | Spotify)
