Our community takes action to defend democratic values around the world. Explore our Fellows' Action Projects here.
In the 11 months following the on-site or virtual Fellowship program, our Fellows work on their Action Project: an independent venture focused on promoting democratic values in their own communities. Action Projects are as diverse as Humanity in Action Fellows. Fellows apply their new knowledge and perspectives to the communities they impact—in whatever format they find meaningful. The Humanity in Action community is a great resource for getting support—be it with contacts, experience or good advice. Using community organizing methods, Sujin hopes to build community, power and democratic leadership: For a democracy that is as diverse as its people.

Project Civis
As her Action Project, Landecker Democracy Fellow Melissa is developing Project Civis, a digital learning platform for those hoping to become U.S. citizens. Project Civis allows one to practice for the naturalization test through mock interviews to increase their confidence on interview day, and ultimately participate in the US democracy!

In-Between Worlds Digital Poetry Book
As his Action Project, Landecker Democracy Fellow Nikola is creating "In-Between Worlds," a project focusing on young first and second generation immigrants in the US and their cultural production in online spaces. Its main output is a digital audio-visual TikTok/Spotify Poetry Book.
