Helle Porsdam is a Professor of History and Cultural Rights and UNESCO Chair in Cultural Rights at the University of Copenhagen. She did her PhD in American Studies at Yale University, has headed a number of research projects, and has taught in the HIA summer program a number of times. She has written extensively on cultural human rights, especially the right to science. Most recently, her co-edited volume The Right to Science: Then and Now, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2021, and her monograph, Science as a Cultural Human Right was published in the University of Pennsylvania Press Studies in Human Rights Studies in 2022.
Helle has served on the Humanity in Action Denmark Board of Directors since November 2021.
