Morten Kjærum

Morten Kjærum is the Director of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law and adjunct Professor at Aalborg University. He currently serves as Chair of The Board of the European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) as well as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Voluntary Fund for Technical Cooperation in the Field of Human Rights and of the Universal Periodic Review Trust Fund for Financial and Technical Assistance.

Morten was the first Director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights and was founding director of the Danish Institute for Human Rights. He has also been director of the Danish Refugee Council. Morten has been a member of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination as well as Chair of the Network of Directors of EU Agencies and Chair of the International Coordinating Committee for National Human Rights Institutions.

He has published extensively on a variety of human rights issues and in particular on topics related to refugee protection and inclusion.
